October Fever

Image
And yes, it's that time of the year, where I max out all my credit cards, pretend I'm in my twenties, and wish for things that I probably don't need. Last year, I bought Veronica (MBA) as a birthday gift, this year, I bought a Fujifilm x30 . My previous trips made me realized how much I miss taking photographs and my DSLR is too heavy to carry around. It's also more than 5 years old, and a lot more reasons to convince myself to buy a new one. Heh. Please don't mind the noise. It was also fun to read tech and camera blogs again which I avoided for years  months (like last Feb because Go Pro), to prevent myself for treating every month as October. Excited to use it for my upcoming trip. Now on to the wishlist: 1. Zen Pencils Book - I'm a big fan of Zen Pencils. Most of the life decisions I've made recently are because of Gavin's cartoons. I wanted a print of some of my favorites in my room, but since I'm renting, that would have to wait. H...

Oslob-Dumaguete-Dauin-Apo Trip

Image
So a few weeks ago, together with my loves, I went to another out of town trip. I really did not know what to expect since it was also my first time to go to these places and I'm with people I grew up with (meaning I know their parents and I know what would happen to me if something happens to them LOL). Going back, it started with a impulsive plan with my cousins Claud and Lica. I invited Chesca to come along since she would be having her annual VL on the same dates. The itinerary was also finalized I think a month before the trip so that made it easier. The plan was overnight at Oslob, then 2 nights in Dauin. From the airport, we straight to Oslob (through Sibulan Port). We stayed at Oslob Garden Stay Resort which was better than what I have expected. The staff and owner were friendly and easy to talk to. Also the view!

Body non-issues (well hopefully)

Image
I love going to the beach. I love getting burnt by the sun with a beer on my hand and my friends around. But every single time, I get insecure of my body. I mean you feel people staring at you like you have no right to be there wearing that expensive 2-piece you bought on sale (because hello, plus size swimsuits aren't really that accessible), you see girls that are thin and have that perfect thigh-gap that the media has portrayed to be sexy, and you feel like you're offending people by wearing what you want.

Grandma's Little Girl

Image
Grandma and I are very different, she is elegant, classy, and sophisticated while I’m a bit tomboyish, "malikot" , and waaaay impatient, but I never felt that she loved me less.  She is also old-fashioned, because duh, she’s my grandmother. I remember her buying me sunday dresses when I was young, and telling me that my skirt is too short when I was already in my early twenties (I just LOL'd).  I spent my grade school days living with my grand parents. I believed that she was a hundred years old, until I realized that she never grows old for years (hey I was young and gullible and love boasting to my classmates that my grandmother is better than theirs, "wala kayo sa lola ko!" ). I would sleep beside her when papa won't stop snoring and she wouldn't mind even if I ended up hoarding the blanket.

#TBT: Short Letters to Love Lost and Never Found

In line with the #TBT hashtag, my lack of old decent pictures, and my goal to update this blog often, here are throwback posts that features a series of my favorite, embarrassing, and memorable blog posts. November 4, 2010 To the-one-who-got-away: I miss the 1999 you. I miss the late night talks. Last time we saw each other (2009), I asked you if we really are still friends or as close as we were before or if we just went out for old time’s sake (you were leaving for another country 3 days after). You just laughed and called me “Baliw” (as you always do), but never really answered the question. You were good at avoiding questions. It was one of the things I learned from you. No matter how much we've both changed, I’ll always treasure what we had, or what we never had. You’ll always be my first love, my first heartbreak. To my first-real-boyfriend:

29

So where do I go from here? Time won't stand by forever if I know it's true and I've learned not to say never or else I'll seem the fool. 29 you'd think I'd know better living like a kid. When my lies may seem less than clever is when I fall for it So it's the last day of my 20s. And like the Gin Blossoms' song, it was fast and I thought I'd knew better by the age of 29.

When You Fall in Love

Image
from The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan For someone who hasn't been in a relationship for more than 4 years (or 5, I really don't remember), and does not even know what a real date feels like, I get to hear a looooot of love problems. I really don't get it, sometimes I fell that they just need someone to listen, but I can't help but give unsolicited advice, especially if it's the " kamot ulo " kind. I also realized that I always tell them the same things. So here I am to take note of those things. I will try to keep it short... if I can. Love yourself first - I think this is a given. I don't think it needs any explanation. It takes two to make a relationship work - If your partner has given up, and has said/showed it time and time again. I don't see any reason why you should waste your time to make it work. Yes people change, but they have to want it for themselves - Never love a person for what the person can become. Never ...
